On October 31st Derek Shore gave a lecture about the research that he is conducting on the Human Cannabinoid-1 Receptor and the specific allosteric modulator: ORG27569. The allosteric modulator binds to an area on the receptor and changes the conformation of the binding site. If a positive modulator increases binding, while a negative modulator decrease binding. ORG27569 binds to Cannabinoid-1 Receptor which changes the active site of the receptor to a intermediate conformation. It can also stop the any other processes that would cause the receptor to activate. Derek Shore thought that this would be helpful because it would prevent many side effects that are caused my modern medicine today.

And you wonder how they come up with many names of receptors and molecules! And that's pretty cool. This is still in the research stages right?
