Glucose is the highly important simple monosaccharide and an essential
source of energy for most cells in animals and plants. During the
process of digestion, it's absorbed directly into the bloodstream and is then referred to as "blood glucose". Glucose is
also commonly referred to as dextrose.I won't bore you with the
biochemical reactions that occur in the human body but I will suggest that it is a oxidation reaction where the molecule is broken down and converted into ATP. In plants, glucose is manufactured through the well known process of photosynthesis.
