Trick or Glucose

 

It is Halloween so who doesn't want to get their hands on some yummy sugary treats? The scrumptious treats we eat year round but especially during Halloween are made from glucose. Glucose is a carbohydrate that breaks down to be a simple sugar and is most important in the  human metabolism.  It is also the primary energy source for plants and animals. Looking at the structure above, glucose has 5 chiral centers. The structure also has 3 S configurations and 2 R configurations.
